School Footpath
As some of you may be aware, the petition for a footpath between Forge Manor and the schools (Peak School & Chinley Primary School) is now live to petition the council to make this proposal a reality.
This is after several years of locals and officials alike lobbying for a footpath to be built between the Forge Manor estate and Buxton Road (B6062). This proposal seeks to provide a much safer pedestrian access between the Forge Manor estate and both the Peak School & Chinley Primary School by avoiding walking on busy roads and reducing traffic at school drop offs.
The council are currently the party preventing progress on this footpath proposal and so a petition has now been submitted to request that they either adopt the road bridge to enable the footpath to become a reality or accept the risks associated with not putting in a suitable alternative to current arrangement of walking to school on dangerous roads or excessive traffic at school drop offs.
All signatories would be greatly appreciated to improve the safety of the parents, children & other pedestrians walking to Chinley village and the schools on Buxton Road as well as those using the road outside the schools at pick up / drop off times.
The petition needs over 100 signatories living, working or studying in the Derbyshire County Council area to be considered further.
The more signatories the petition receives, the more seriously the proposition will be taken with over 3,750 signatories securing Chief Officer presentation and over 7,500 securing full council debate so please support wherever you can by signing and spreading the news that this is a petition which needs signing.
